This BTEC course is a QCF Level 3 qualification designed to provide highly specialist work-related qualifications in the science sector. It will give you the knowledge, understanding and skills that you need to prepare for employment or higher education. This course will gain you UCAS points that equate to similar-sized general qualifications (e.g. A levels) within other education institutions within the UK.

Using a variety of teaching and learning activities you will study biology, chemistry and physics and apply these scientific principles to forensic science. You will examine crime scenes and apply your scientific knowledge to analyse and interpret the evidence you find. You will also take part in practical activities which will enable you to develop laboratory skills and the ability to analyse and present experimental findings thus gaining a deeper understanding of How Science Works. You will also appreciate how society makes decisions about scientific issues and how science contributes to society. Your learning will be enhanced by the use of guest speakers and fieldtrips to industrial/ university laboratories.
